I started drawing not long after I was born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1961. A steady diet of Mad magazine, and Disney comics intercepted from the delivery truck on their way to the shelves of the family corner store, supplemented by Asterix books, convinced me at a very early age that cartooning was the best career choice for me.
I cartooned my way through school, In 1976 the first MONSTA cartoons appeared on my schoolbooks.
In the 40 years since, I drew my way through university, started a MONSTA mail order cartoon Tshirt business in Auckland, drew MONSTAs live on kids TV, then travelled the world drawing MONSTA sailing cartoons on the Whitbread Round the World Race, the Volvo Ocean Race, and the America's Cup.
Back at home in New Zealand I work from my studio overlooking the dolphins,orcas and surfers of Wellington's south coast, and draw live cartoons and caricatures at conferences and events.
